I started in the CNA program at Platt but decided direct patient care wasn’t for me. I still wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, so even though I dropped out of the CNA program, I was allowed to stay on for when the class rotated weekly through the various clinical and pathology labs at the hospital. I instantly fell in love with the lab. Without this shadow opportunity I never would have known to pursue a degree in clinical laboratory science/medical technology. I initially started my career as a generalist working in Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank and Microbiology. I ended up specializing in a Virology lab where I continue now as the manager.
