Sheri Amechi was appointed to the Meriden Board of Education in January 2021. She is a member of the Board of Education Curriculum and Policy Committees.
Sheri Amechi has resided in Meriden since 2003 with her husband Chukwuma and two sons, Sedrick and Justice. She has always believed the following words of Nelson Mandela regarding education: “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” and “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than a way in which it treats its children”. These words have always led her in the direction of being an engaged parent in her children's education.
Sheri is involved in the Meriden community as the current vice president of Meriden Children First and immediate past president of the organization. She was the chairperson for the Parent Support Group of the From Boys to Men Enrichment Program and remains on the Board of Directors as the educational chairperson. She has completed a host of Parent Leadership Programs that have been offered in the Meriden Community. She was also a member of the Lincoln Middle School’s School Governance Committee, when her son attended school there.
